So you’re in Stamford, CT for a work conference, and you threw your paddle in the suitcase just in case. Your last meeting wraps at 4:30, which leaves you with a free evening and two options. You can join your coworkers at the hotel bar for the third night in a row, or you can finally put that paddle to use. The catch is you’re not from here and have no idea where anyone plays.
At home finding a court takes thirty seconds, because you know which courts have lights and who in the group chat is always up for a game. Out of town, you’re typing “pickleball near me” into a search bar and clicking through endless results, half of them not even related to what you asked.
That’s exactly why CourtsApp exists.
It started about a year ago in the Tri-State area with a simple idea: make it ridiculously easy to find and book a court. But the mess we were tackling wasn’t a regional problem. Racquet sports have been booming, but finding a place to play never really caught up. Every club seems to have its own booking system and its own website, and it’s up to players to navigate it.
We wanted CourtsApp to be the place you start when you want to play, wherever you are, and now it covers the whole country. Tennis, pickleball, and padel are all there, along with squash, badminton, racquetball, and table tennis if you’re up for something new. Open the app in Houston and you’ll find a court as fast as a local would, plus any tournaments or open plays happening while you’re in town.
How booking works
What happens next depends on where you want to play. Some facilities show live availability and pricing, so you could grab a 5:30 pickleball court at Pickleball America and pay for it in CourtsApp before you leave the hotel. Not every club is bookable in the app yet, but you’ll still know where to go and what’s there, which beats wandering up to a fence to see if anyone’s around.
Need a few more reasons to pack a paddle?
Maybe it’s a girls’ weekend in New York, and the friend who played in high school keeps insisting her serve still works. Search tennis, book a Saturday morning court at SPORTIME Randall’s Island, and make her prove it before brunch. It’s home to the John McEnroe Tennis Academy, so no pressure.
Then there’s Thanksgiving with your in-laws on Chicago’s North Shore. You love them (sometimes). But you know that by Friday afternoon you’ll need to “run an errand” and go somewhere where no one is critiquing how you load the dishwasher. DINX Social Club is ten minutes away with indoor courts and a lounge, in case your errand takes longer than expected. Book a court there and you’ll come back as a much nicer person. (Unfortunately, we can’t help with Aunt Susan’s unsolicited marriage advice.)
Or it’s February, it’s 19 degrees at home, and you booked a long weekend in West Palm Beach purely out of spite. Padel Club Palm Beach has three outdoor courts and a clubhouse café for after. Book one for your first afternoon and send a photo to everyone shoveling snow back home. They’ll love that.
CourtsApp works at home too, for the night your regular foursome bails or the week you finally want to see what squash is all about.
Open Play is live now, too, so travelers with a paddle in their bag ‘just in case’ can find a group to jump into. Lesson booking, pro shops, and gear are on the way.
Wherever the next trip takes you, there are now 280,000+ courts on CourtsApp, and odds are good at least one of them is better than the hotel bar.
